To mark the 64th anniversary of the first artificial satellite flight our company is today, the 4th of October 2021, launching a unique new programme. Next year the CubeSats Geoscan 1U and Geoscan 3U will send the names of all those who wish to participate into Earth orbit.
In 2021 Geoscan began the development of CubeSats 1U and 3U as part of the Space-π project. The first flight will take place in spring 2022 when four Geoscan CubeSats will be sent into space. Two of them — one Geoscan 1U and one Geoscan 3U — will be provided with special data carriers containing the names of participants.
From the Baikonur Cosmodrome Geoscan 1U and Geoscan 3U will be sent into Polar orbit at an altitude of 550km with the help of the launch vehicle Soyuz-2 and the Fregat upper stage. The main payload will consist of instruments provided by research institutes. In addition to the special data carrier one of the CubeSats will have installed a prototype gas engine designed by the Experimental Design Bureau «Fakel».
The programme will remain open until the 15th of November. All you need to do for your flight into space is to fill in the form on our website. After that the certificate confirming your participation in the flight will be sent to your email.
Geoscan is the first Russian company to give everyone the opportunity to send their name into Earth orbit. Similar programmes were carried out by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) during missions to Mars, the Sun and Pluto.
