What is APMA

Modernized Onboard Automatic Photosystem for Manned Aircrafts.

APMA allows to obtain georeferenced images with the specified images overlapping, as well as orthomosaics and 3D models.

Systems helps the pilot to follow the route, displaying the current aircraft position, distance to the specified point, vertical and horizontal deviation from the route.

Emblem of the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation
Approved by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Federal Air Transport Agency of Russian Federation for installation on Robinson R44. Refine and certification of the equipment for other types of aircraft is possible.

Onboard installation

APMA can be installed on board of the following manned aircrafts:

  • Airbus Helicopters H120 H125 H130 AS355
  • Robinson R44 R66
  • Bell 206 407

The complex is equipped with the required fastening system.

Example of the flight task executions

 

Complex works in two modes:

  • Free map mode (map retains the location, aircraft moves);
  • Map following the aircraft mode (aircraft retains the location, map moves)

Automatic control

System is equipped with ground control station with preinstalled Geoscan Planner software.

Program allows to perform preflight preparation, select the preferred surveying parameters, launch the UAV and select the landing point. During the flight task execution, the operator is provided with telemetry and information about the conditions of the UAV.

After the flight completion the received images can be downloaded to the program interface and any image of the flight along the route may be viewed.

The figure shows the location of optical axis of aerial photography cameras related to the axis of the aerial vehicle, where α is angle of deviation of axis of aerial photography camera 1 from aerial vehicle axis, β is angle of deviation of axis of aerial photography camera 2 from aerial vehicle axis, Py – side overlap equal to 30%, SАФА1 and SАФА2 – centers of projection.

Modernization

The possibility of installation of APMA on manned aircraft (Robinson R44);

  • System is equipped with the required fastening system;
  • Performing aerial photography at a speed of more than 100km/h;
  • Swath width of the resulted orthophoto on the ground is not less than 550 m to each side from the axis of the linear object at flight altitude of 650 m;
  • Aerial photography is carried out for a single one-way flight of the manned aircraft along the axis of the linear object;
  • Resolution of the aerial images is no more than 20 cm / pixel;
  • Error of the georeference of the data (aerial photographs) is no more than 50 cm.

Universal payloads for geodetic surveying, mapping and monitoring tasks:

  • Two Sony DSC-RX1 (resolution 24MPix), or one Phase One iXU camera (resolution 50 - 100 MPix)
  • GPS/GLONASS geodetic receiver for the images positioning with a 5-10 cm accuracy
  • Tablet computer for the flight scheduling and monitoring
  • Onboard control unit
  • GNSS receiver antenna
  • Transportation container

Open architecture allows to install photo- video- and infrared cameras with the georeference support.
